Established in 1998, The Commonwealth Governor’s School (CGS)is an Academic Year Governor’s School based on a school-within-a-school model. This half-day program utilizes real-time interactive technology, field experiences, and team teaching to create a regional community of learners. Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford students are offered a rigorous program of study that emphasizes interaction with other talented students in the region. Students from twelve participating high schools attend one of six CGS sites.

It was a great fall afternoon for the CGS sites at Wilderness Presidential Resort sponsored by the CGS PTO!Ropes Course, Knockerball, Indoor Swimming, Rock Climbing, Roller Skating, Ice Skating, Mini Golf, Disc Golf, Aqua Cycles, Kayaking, Tennis Courts, Pickleball, Volleyball, Arts and Crafts, Archery, and more!

In celebration of successful completion of two years of CGS, sites hold pinning ceremonies for rising 11th graders. Students may use their pins on academic letters or display them proudly. They EARNED it!

Seniors will present their Culminating research to staff, stakeholders, educators, family, and community members. All are welcome to learn more about the inspirational and groundbreaking work of our CGS students! April 16 at UMW - Stafford
Save the Date! The CGS PTO will help celebrate the CGS Seniors at UMW Stafford on May 16 for Stafford and Spotsylvania sites and at KGHS on May 12 for King George and Caroline students.
Each August, the PTO hosts a picnic for new and returning families to kick of the school year.
